A Celebration of Traditions ” Fiddles and Feet”
We were proud to invite all the way from Sligo, Ireland, a young fiddler named Oisin MacDiarmada. At 26 years of age, Oisin is already an honours graduate in Music Education at Trinity College, Dublin/RIAM.
In addition to his widespread performing activities, he is respected internationally as a fiddle tutor and for his journalistic, lecturing and production work. Fast becoming one of the most exciting young musicians on the traditional scene, he has been as ‘one of the most talented fiddlers in Ireland today’. Oisin was the headline performer for this event, and was accompanied by some of Manitoba’s finest accompanists: Valerie Kitcher (piano), Martin Colledge (cittern) and Paul Hammer (guitar/mandolin).
Here are a few pictures taken at the Concert here in Winnipeg on May 15, 2005. It was a full house (Western Cultural Centre) and the evening was well attended and enjoyed by all
